A near death experience and a chance meeting forced the hands of what is now known as “Sleep Country’’ to get into a basement and mix somevery unlikely to work ingredients together and wait for the expected implosion of failure to proceed but....to everyone's surprise, that didn't happen, it somehow worked, and like that Fraser Valley post punk Indie somethings SLEEP COUNTRY was born. Blending influences from Midnight Oil, Talking Heads, to Pile, Death Cab, LCD Soundsystem and at times Fugazi, and Hot Snakes, Sleep Country never talk about what should happen next, they just get in a room and tap into whatever vibration got them in there in the first place. Sleep Country is a chemical imbalance and perfect harmony, like a hedgehog handing you an ice-cream cone, be careful. It shouldn't work, but it does. And it works because it is honest. After 2 years of refining Sleep Country played its first show August 23 of last year with Wait Less and from that show word quickly spread and a flurry of shows proceeded including The Pearl with Wine Lips, and The Rickshaw with SubPop legends Kinski.The band then made the hard but necessary decision to focus on writing and recoding, The Debut Sleep Country e.p will be released later this year.
